چکیده

The experiment was conducted during the year 2019-20 by Vegetable Section, Agriculture Research Station (ARS) Baffa Mansehra to compare garden soil with nitrogen (Urea) and potassium (Murate of Potash) for lettuce production in glass house. Lettuce is an important summer off-season high valued crop cultivated at District months July-August. produce transported other metropolises handsome earning, but excessive use minerals synthetic fertilizers may render less profitable one or another way. Hence this designed doses. It evident from statistical analysis that has a significant effect on number leaves, leaf area, seed per plant, yield plant acre. Seed noticeable when prevailing temperature formation 25 0 C. In terms area maximum 576.10 cm 2 recorded while minimum 303.43 applied @ 200 kg ha -1 100 respectively. Maximum leaves 28.03 21.96 . successful mean C house 30 days, here again surpassed 4.03gm Yield plot 3.69 value 1.1843 Garden gives 13600 acre compared lowest 6070.5 150 - 1 Keywords:, Lettuce, soil, production, DOI: 10.7176/CEIS/14-2-06 Publication date: May 31 st 2023

Effects of Nitrogen Fertilizers on the Growth and Nitrate Content of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.)

Nitrogen is an essential element for plant growth and development; however, due to environmental pollution, high nitrate concentrations accumulate in the edible parts of these leafy vegetables, particularly if excessive nitrogen fertilizer has been applied. Consuming these crops can harm human health; thus, developing a suitable strategy for the agricultural application of nitrogen fertilizer i...

Exogenous Glycine Nitrogen Enhances Accumulation of Glycosylated Flavonoids and Antioxidant Activity in Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.)

Glycine, the simplest amino acid in nature and one of the most abundant free amino acids in soil, is regarded as a model nutrient in organic nitrogen studies. To date, many studies have focused on the uptake, metabolism and distribution of organic nitrogen in plants, but few have investigated the nutritional performance of plants supplied with organic nitrogen. Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.), one ...

Carotenoids of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) grown on soil enriched with spent coffee grounds.

The impact of spent coffee grounds on carotenoid and chlorophyll content in lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. capitata) was evaluated. A greenhouse pot experiment was conducted with spent coffee amounts ranging from 0% to 20% (v/v). All evaluated pigments increased proportionally to spent coffee amounts. Lutein and β-carotene levels increased up to 90% and 72%, respectively, while chlorophylls in...

The nitrogen and nitrate economy of butterhead lettuce (Lactuca sativa var capitata L).

Quantifying and simulating the relationships between crop growth, total-nitrogen (total-N) and nitrate-N (NO3--N) concentration can improve crop nutritional husbandry. In this study, the relationship between shoot relative growth rate (RGR) and shoot total-N, organic-N and NO3--N concentration of hydroponically-grown lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. capitata L. cv. Kennedy) was described and simula...
